The stools are loosely based on the ad hoc tradition of Irish vernacular furniture. The three different sizes are intended to instigate a more playful and inventive use of the stools. The stools can also be connected together in various arrangements to create benches, tables, foot stools etc. Stools are made from Oak and Ash, both materials are readily available in Ireland from sustainably managed forests. Stools first came into being through a project named ‘49 Stools’ which was a collaboration between Jo Anne Butler and Gearoid Muldowney of Superfolk.
