This piece was made for a silverware competition in 2005 which I entered while in my second year of college. The competition was sponsored by the Office of Public Works. My piece won first prize and was taken into the state collection to be displayed at Farmleigh House, the government’s guesthouse for visiting foreign dignitaries. The piece itself is made from layers of sterling silver and walnut which have been sandwiched and riveted together. The classical shape was adopted to reflect its proposed new home in the 18th century Farmleigh Estate.
